For The Very First Time, PM Modi Speaks On Violence In Manipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, for the very first time, spoke about the violence that has been ongoing in Manipur for the past two months.

He said the Manipur incident has filled the entire nation with shame during his media speech ahead of the Parliament Monsoon Session, on Thursday. He delivered his customary statement to reporters at Parliament complex before the start of Monsoon session.

Modi said, “I assure the nation, no guilty will be spared. Law will take its course with all its might. What happened with the daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven.”

Speaking to reporters the Prime Minister said, “My heart is filled with pain and anger. The incident from Manipur that has come before us is shameful for any civilised society. I urge all the CMs to further strengthen law & order in their states – especially for the security of women and take the strongest measures. Be it any incident in Rajasthan or Chhattisgarh of Manipur or any corner of the country – rise above politics.”

Meanwhile, the opposition parties have corned his government for a while for his conspicuous silence on the ethnic violence in the BJP-ruled north east state. “Today, when I am standing by this temple of democracy my heart is full of pain and anger. I want to assure the countrymen that no guilty will be spared,” PM Modi said.

It is to be noted that a recent video has proved how terrible the atmosphere in Manipur is, how brutal it is. The video of a group of people stripping two women naked and taking them to a particular place is shocked on social media.
