Guwahati: A press conference was held on Saturday at The Novotel Hotel on GS Road in Guwahati under the initiative of Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati.
The press conference was addressed by Dr. Rohith R. Ranade, MS, MCH (Gynecologic Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon), Narayana Health City, Bangalore.
The number of people dying of cancer is gradually increasing all over the world, so it has become very important to create awareness about it at this time. Cancer can be prevented when people are properly informed about it and know what steps to take in case of cancer. The press conference was organised to create awareness about cancer prevention, its diagnosis and treatment.
People should know that smoking tobacco and alcohol does not lead to cancer only. In addition, exposure to various carcinogen-like chemicals and harmful radiations, including UV rays from sunlight, increases the chances of various types of cancer even if it is in the history of obesity and family cancer. The most common cancers in India are breast cancer, oral cancer, cervical cancer, gastric, colorectal and lung cancer.
The press conference highlighted breast cancer and cervical cancer especially in women.
