Chasing a small target, Imam-ul-Haq’s 78 and Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 63 helped Pakistan romp home in 39.3 overs.
Earlier, Haris Rauf proved to be too quick for the Bangladeshi batters, who were also troubled relentlessly by Naseem Shah as the Shakib Al Hasan-led side was bundled out for a paltry 193, well inside 40 overs in an Asia Cup Super 4 match against Pakistan in Lahore on September 6.
Rauf (4/19 in 6 overs) terrorised the batters with sheer pace while Naseem (3/34 in 5.4 overs) also added seam and swing with it.
On the batting front, Imam-ul-Haq shone for Pakistan, scoring a crucial 78 runs. His performance, along with Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century, helped Pakistan chase down the target set by Bangladesh with ease. The pair’s steady partnership ensured that Pakistan maintained momentum throughout their innings, even after the loss of skipper Babar Azam.
This victory marks a promising start for Pakistan in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023. With this win, they have set a high standard for the remaining matches against India and Sri Lanka.
