Vijyayadashmi: Effigy of Ravana Burnt in Assam’s Mirza

Guwahati: Dussehra was celebrated with all its glory at Mirza in Assam’s Kamrup district on Tuesday.

On the occasion of Vijayadashami, the burning of an effigy of about 150-feet tall Ravan took place at Mirza in Kamrup district in the presence of Assam Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and BJP local MLA Hemanga Thakuria, as per an official release.

A large number of people witnessed the Ravan Daharn during the programme.

BJP MLA of Palasbari assembly constituency Hemanga Thakuria said that on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami and Dussehra, Sarpara Friends Club has organized the Dusshera Utsav.

“Every year, we celebrate Dussehra and today Assam Forest Minister and Guardian Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary attended the programme as Chief Guest and the programme was also attended by MP Queen Oja,” said Thakuria.

The BJP MLA also praised local artists for making the tallest effigy of Ravana.
