With the convincing win, Rohit & Co. have entered the Super Four of the continental tournament, along with Pakistan from their group (Group A). In their first game of the next round, they will once again lock horns with the Men in Green on September 10.
After being stretched with the ball, India came out to chase 231 in 50 overs versus Nepal in another rain-marred contest in the Asia Cup in Kandy. Their run-chase started with a lengthy rain break as the revised target was 145 in 23 overs.
Rohit Sharma (74*) and Shubman Gill (67*) went bonkers, after seeing off the initial few overs, to close the run-chase in a jiffy and take their side to a stunning ten-wicket win. With this, they enter the Super Four and will face Pakistan on September 10. The venue is likely to be changed from Colombo to Hambantota.
Batting first against India, Nepal posted a healthy total of 230 runs, giving India a target of 231 to win the match. Aasif Sheikh (wk) and Sompal Kami starred with the bat for Nepal, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj returned with three wickets each.
