Asian Games: India wins second Gold in shooting, top finish for Women’s 25 m pistol team

Sports Desk: The Indian women’s 25 m pistol team of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan won the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on September 27, 2023. The trio scored a combined total of 1759 points to finish ahead of China (1756) and South Korea (1742).

This is India’s second gold medal in shooting at the Asian Games, after the men’s 10 m air rifle team won gold on Tuesday. India has now also equaled its best-ever medal tally in shooting at the Asian Games, with four medals (two gold, one silver, and one bronze).

Manu Bhaker, who is the reigning world champion in the 25 m pistol event, was the top scorer for India with a total of 590 points. She was followed by Esha Singh (584 points) and Rhythm Sangwan (585 points).

The Indian women’s 25 m pistol team has been in excellent form in recent months. They won the gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June, and they also won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, in August.
