Assam: 150 fall sick due to food poisoning in Nakachari village of Jorhat

MARIANI: Prasad distribution is an essential part of any religious activity. But in an unexpected development, a large number of people fell sick after consuming the prasad offered during such an event in Assam.

The incident took place in the Mariani region of the state. A large number of people consumed the grams and lentils offered as prasad during an event in the Nakachari village of Jorhat at the residence of one Pranab Gogoi on Saturday.

Over 150 people including children and women fall sick after consuming the same.

The people from the nearby villages also participated in the event and consumed the same prasad, leading to an increase in the number of victims.

Some of the victims were shifted to the Nakachari Model Hospital while those in worse conditions were shifted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for better medical care.
