Assam: Guwahati Police seized Over 2,640 kg of suspected marijuana from an oil tanker

Digital Desk: Guwahati Police on Friday night confis­cated 2,640 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis from an oil tanker, marking an important triumph in the war against drugs.

Guwahati Police apprehended an oil tanker coming in from a nearby state Friday night and recovered 2,640 kg of sus­pected ganja in 134 packages hidden in a secret room during police anti-drugs operation. Two people were also detained on the spot by police.

Law enforcement promptly apprehended the two individ­uals responsible for the contraband’s delivery. Reportedly, the two individuals identified as Kasim Ali and Mukut Ali, both from Baksa.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma com­plimented the Guwahati Police on their achievement on social networking platform X (previously known as Twitter).

Legal action has been taken against those who have been taken into custody. Further details awaited.
