Assam: Police seize large quantity of fake Indian currency, one held

Guwahati: On Tuesday, Assam Police has arrested one person and recovered Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs 2 lakh in Guwahati.

According to reports, the Guwahati City Police seized a large quantity of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and apprehended one person named, Mofidul Islam (29 years old) of Bihpuriya area in Lakhimpur district said reports on Wednesday.

Reports say that the incident has been reported from Jalukbari near Bhupen Hazarika Samadjhi Sthal in Guwahati police limits in Assam.

Raids were conducted late last night that is on Tuesday and one FICN Printing Machine and FICN of 2,16,500 (433 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination) were recovered.

Diganta Borah, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati said “After interrogation, it came out that the other accomplice Rofikuddin of Laluk Islampur, Lakhimpur had been operating the illegal FICN network at Mirza Rail Gate at a rented house. Accordingly, one raid was conducted at Mirza Rail gate on Tuesday night and recovered one FICN Printing Machine and FICN of 2,16,500 (433 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination).”
“Necessary legal steps have been initiated,” the police added.
