Guwahati: The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) released the final voter list for the ensuing Panchayat elections on September 29, 2023. The final voter list contains 1,78,00,127 voters, including over 89.86 lakh male voters and 88.12 lakh female voters.
“The Panchayat Electoral Rolls are prepared by District/Sub Divisional authorities by taking the relevant portion of the concerned Legislative Assembly electoral rolls, as prescribed in the Assam Panchayat (Constitution) Rules, 1995. The date of eligibility was fixed as 01.01.2023 by the Assam State Election Commission,” Assam State Election Commission said.
The ASEC had earlier released a draft voter list on August 25, 2023, and invited claims and objections from voters. After considering all the claims and objections, the ASEC has now released the final voter list.
The Panchayat elections in Assam are scheduled to be held in three phases on November 11, 15, and 18, 2023. The results will be declared on November 22, 2023.
The ASEC has urged all eligible voters to check their names in the final voter list and ensure that they are registered to vote. Voters can check their names in the final voter list online at the ASEC’s website or at their nearest polling station.
The ASEC has also appealed to all political parties and candidates to cooperate in the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Panchayat elections
