Vivek Ramaswamy is an Indian-American lawmaker who is set to contest against Donald Trump in Republican primaries for presidential polls. Hailing Ramaswamy, Elon Musk called him a “very promising candidate”, Elon Musk said on X (formerly Twitter) while referring to Ramaswamy’s interview with popular journalist Tucker Carlson.
Meanwhile, Ramaswamy has been quite straightforward with his agenda for all the poll campaign. He has called China the “biggest threat” that the US faces and said that he would go for “total de coupling” with Beijing if he comes to power. The Republican leader has also said that he would aim to completely re-enter the trade in the Pacific and enter trade relationships with countries like India, Japan and South Korea.
Earlier, in an interview with Fox News, Ramaswamy unequivocally labeled Xi Jinping as a dictator and China as the primary menace to the US. He emphasised his commitment to achieving economic independence from China as a priority and advocated for severing most business ties with the country. Ramaswamy explained his stance on the matter, asserting that short-term sacrifices could yield long-term gains and that a willingness to sacrifice might ultimately lead to a scenario where sacrifices are unnecessary.
In the 45-minute interview Ramaswamy spoke with Carlson about the “void” he is trying to fill in American politics.
Ramaswamy also argued that US is at a point where the “government and the broader establishment believe that citizens of the nation cannot be trusted with the truth.”
Praising Ramaswamy after the interview, the former Fox News Prime time host said that the Republican hopeful is “One of the best-versed voices in policy” he has spoken with.
