Fire breaks out inside Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose airport, Kolkata

A major fire broke out at Kolkata Airport’s D portal at the passengers departure area around 9.10pm Wednesday evening. The fire is now under control. No one has been injured. Passengers and shopkeepers are being evacuated as the terminal is filled with smoke.

Airport authority sources said all passengers and crew members were evacuated from the departure lounge. “Since there was a rush of passengers, airport authorities took no chance and used their firefighters to dose it. At the moment, it is under control and the cooling process is being done,” a police officer said. Officials said after an initial investigation that a short circuit could be the reason for the fire.
