Governor Anusuiya Uikey distributes Rs 10 lakh each to two women who were armed in Manipur

Manipur Governor Anusuya Uikey on Saturday visited the shelter camp in Churachandpur for the second time and conveyed the message of working together to restore peace, normalcy and harmony in the state.

Governor at Assam Rifles office significantly, on May 4, two women who were victims of public harassment met in person and handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to their families.

After arriving at the Assam Rifles helipad the Governor went to the relief camp of St. Paul’s Institute and then reached the relief camp located at Young Learners’ School in Rankai. It is to be noted that around 170 displaced people are taking shelter in the school.

Governor while distributing aid she visit the shelter camps and interact with people and distribute relief materials to each family. The relief items include some cash and children’s food items.

The Governor urged the youth of Manipur not to take law into their hands and refrain from unlawful activities to restore law and order situation in the state. The Governor also assured that the government will provide compensation to the affected people. The Governor also said that all measures will be taken to secure the future of the people for restoring peace.

The Governor reached the Assam Rifles headquarters in Sector 27, Tuibong and interacted with the ex-servicemen. As president of the State Sainik Board, the Governor gave some relief material and Rs 15,000 each in cash to seven ex-servicemen families.

Governor visits shelter camp in Churachandpur for the second time:

Addressing a press conference at the Assam Rifles office, the governor said he had visited Churachandpur for the second time to take stock of the problems faced by the people.

The Governor said “So far, some problems have been resolved. Due to the road blockade, imports of basic facilities including medicines have been disrupted.”

“The people of the state as well as the entire country are ashamed of this incident. This incident will never be forgotten and financial and moral support will be provided to the two victims,” Governor Uikey said.
