Guwahati: Guwahati, India is raising awareness and saving lives on World Rabies Day 2023! The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has joined hands with JBF (Just Be Friendly) a not-for-profit organizations to organize a multifaceted awareness program on September 28, 2023, near Dighalipukhuri.
The theme of World Rabies Day 2023 is “All for 1, One Health for all.” This theme highlights the importance of collaboration and a one-health approach to combating rabies. Rabies is a deadly disease that affects both humans and animals, and it can only be eliminated through a coordinated effort.
The awareness program in Guwahati will include a variety of activities, such as:
- Street plays and skits to educate the public about rabies prevention and control.
- Quiz competitions and games to test people’s knowledge of rabies and to promote awareness.
- Free anti-rabies vaccination for pets and stray dogs.
- Distribution of educational materials on rabies prevention and control.
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation is also working with animal welfare organizations to organize anti-rabies vaccination drives in different parts of the city. The goal is to vaccinate as many dogs as possible and to create a rabies-free Guwahati.
World Rabies Day is a reminder that we all have a role to play in eliminating rabies. By raising awareness and taking preventive measures, we can save lives and create a safer world for everyone.
