Pakistan: Imran Khan’s lawyer, PML-N Senator involved in fight on television channel

Digital Desk: A political talk show in Pakistan took an unexpected turn when a heated debate between two politicians escalated into a physical altercation. The incident, which has since gone viral, occurred on the popular Pakistani talk show “Kal Tak,” hosted by Javed Chaudhary.

The two politicians involved were Sher Afzal Marwat, a lawyer affiliated with Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Afnan Ullah, a Senator from Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The verbal sparring quickly spiralled out of control when Senator Afnan Ullah Khan made allegations against PTI chief Imran Khan, accusing him of misconduct and covert discussions with the military establishment.

In response to these accusations, Marwat, instead of countering with arguments, resorted to physical violence, landing a blow on Khan’s head. The situation further deteriorated as Khan retaliated, leading to a full-blown fistfight on live television. Despite the efforts of the show’s crew and host to separate them, the brawl continued, leaving viewers and the nation in shock.

After the fight, Senator Afnan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared his version of the story.

“Marwat attacked me in the talk show yesterday, I believe in non-violence but I am Nawaz Sharif’s soldier. The trick that has been put on Marwat is an important lesson for all PTI and especially for Imran Khan, they will not be able to see the shape, they will have to wear big black glasses,” posted Khan.

Netizens, meanwhile, had a field day after the video arrived on their timelines. “It always ends with South Asia’s favourite abuse. Pakistan TV,” said one, while another joked: “That’s how Debate should be conducted, direct result.”
