Upset Assam Man Sells Scooter to Buy Horse After Police Fine Him for Not Wearing Helmet

Guwahati: Dibakar Koirala, who is in his early fifties, recently sold his scooter in favour of a more convenient mode of transportation.

In this fast-paced era of posh cars and environmentally-friendly electric vehicles, Dibakar Koirala, a local businessman from the north Assamese town of Gohpur, bought himself a horse. Koirala, who is in his early fifties, recently sold his scooter in favour of a more convenient mode of transportation.

“A few months ago, the cops stopped me while I was riding my scooter to the market. For not wearing the helmet, they assessed me a fine of 500 rupees. I explained to them why they weren’t wearing the appropriate gear at the time, but they remained steadfast. I paid the fine, but this experience still hurts. The following day, I traded in the scooter for a horse,” Dibakar Koirala told.

“I don’t need a licence to ride it, and it’s definitely cost-effective. Without a helmet and a pollution certificate, breaking the law is not a burden. The horse merely needs to be fed grass and fodder and bathed on schedule. Despite the jokes from my friends and family, I am glad that I have lost it. My wife complains that she is unable to travel with me to most places since the horse does not have a pillion ride, Dibakar Koirala continued.
