Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on his first State visit to the United States, was greeted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House in Washington DC, following which he attended a private dinner with them. From a lab-grown 7.5-carat green diamond, to a handcrafted sandalwood box — Modi presented an array of special gifts to the Bidens. Modi, tonight, will attend the State dinner at White House and will address the US Congress meet later.
According to the White House, the President, the First Lady and PM Modi, earlier today, enjoyed a musical tribute to the regions of India. Jill Biden hosted Modi at the National Science Foundation (NSF), where they participated at an event to highlight shared priorities of India and the US around education and the workforce. This first meeting between Modi and the Bidens will set the stage for the formal bilateral talks between the two sides.
