WTC Final 2023: India 151/5 at Stumps on Day 2, still trail by 318 runs

India lost half their side for 151 at stumps on the second day and trailed Australia (469) by 318 runs. After losing four quick wickets, Ravindra Jadeja (48) and Ajinkya Rahane (29*) steadied India’s innings with a valuable 71-run stand, before the former became the first victim of Nathan Lyon. India need a big innings from Rahane to make a game out of it on Friday.

Australia took firm control of the World Test Championship (WTC) final as India’s top-order crumbled against their high-quality pace attack in a pressure-filled match at The Oval on Thursday.

Australia dominated the show on Thursday despite a good comeback from the Indian bowlers in the first and second sessions. Mohammed Siraj returned a four-wicket haul as India bundled out Australia for 469 runs in the second session.

In reply, the Rohit Sharma-led side got off to a poor start, losing both the openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the score of 30. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli too failed to play promising knocks.
